Lab resultshCG, explained
hCG is a hormone with luteinizing-hormone-like activity, studied in reproductive hormone signaling.
What it’s used for
Clinical context
Some approved uses involve triggering egg release or treating specific causes of low testosterone in men.
Separate contexts
Use alongside testosterone replacement or after a steroid cycle is described as outside approved uses.
- Research interests
- Fertility treatment · Ovulation · Testosterone signalling
Clinical evidence applies to particular fertility and hormone conditions.
What to expect
- Weeks 1–4
Lab and testicular changes reported
- Weeks 4–8 / months 2–3
Fertility responses vary and need to be measured with testing
Side effects & safety
Side effects
- Breast symptoms, mood changes or headache
- Water retention and swelling (edema)
- Sex-hormone levels that run too high
- Ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS) during fertility treatment, which can become life-threatening
- Serious blood clots have been reported during gonadotropin therapy
- Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) have been reported with urinary hCG
Stop and get help if
- Chest pain or shortness of breath
- A painful, swollen leg
- Severe abdominal bloating or pain
- Vision changes
- Signs of an allergic reaction
- Testicular pain
What regs say
- There is no approved weight-loss use, and regulators say HCG diet products are illegal.
Avoid or check first
- Hormone-sensitive cancer
- Children, outside of prescribed treatment — inappropriate exposure is a serious risk
- Fertility treatment without specialist monitoring — the label requires monitoring of ovarian response
- Taking thyroid hormone — high HCG levels can affect the thyroid, so monitoring is needed
In sport
- The reference lists hCG as prohibited for male athletes under S2.2.1; prescribed use requires the relevant exemption.

How to mix and store it
How to mix5 steps
Wipe both tops
Wash your hands, then swab both rubber vial tops with alcohol. Let them dry.
Draw the water
Use a new sterile syringe to draw the water volume selected in the calculator.
Run it down the wall
Introduce the water slowly down the inside glass wall, rather than directly onto the powder.
Swirl, don’t shake
Gently swirl or roll the vial. Allow time for the powder to dissolve.
Label the vial
Write the preparation date and the amount and final volume on the vial label.
Injecting under the skinWhere, rotating sites, which syringe
Where
Subcutaneous injections go into the fatty layer beneath the skin. Common sites include the abdomen, outer thigh and upper arm. Keep at least 5 cm from the navel and avoid bruised, irritated or damaged skin.
Rotate sites
Change the spot each time. Clean the skin and let it dry.
Single-use equipment
Use a new sterile needle and syringe each time. Place used needles in a sharps container.
Storage
Storage
Refrigerated at 2–8°C. Reported period: 30–60 days.
Combining it with others
Use caution
- Clomiphene or enclomiphene
Both may increase the body's own testosterone production.
- Kisspeptin
Combining these hormone effects may raise testosterone too much.
Other combinations
Often taken together
- TRT
A prescribed pairing used in care involving testicle function and fertility.
What the research says
Hormone activity
The official drug label describes hCG's two parts and how it acts like the reproductive hormone LH to stimulate sex-hormone production. It does not establish that this listing matches the branded medicine.

Questions
What does 7,000iu mean?
It describes an amount of material in the unit stated on the label. It does not describe liquid volume, a dose, or how to prepare the product.
Read more about amountsDoes purity mean it is sterile?
No. Purity and sterility require different tests. An endotoxin result also does not establish sterility.
