Side effects & safety
Side effects
- Injection-site discomfort, redness or rash
- Occasional joint symptoms
- Nasal irritation with the spray
- Allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions
Stop and get help if
- Allergic reaction or trouble breathing
- Signs of unusual immune activation
- Signs of transplant (graft) problems
- An infection that won't clear
- Nosebleeds or nasal discharge with the spray
What regs say
- The FDA flags immune-reaction and impurity concerns for compounded thymosin alpha-1; research powders may not match trial drugs.
- It isn't FDA approved, and how well the nasal form works is uncertain.
Avoid or check first
- Pregnant, breastfeeding, or a child — safety is unknown
- Organ transplant or on immunosuppressants — the label lists this as a contraindication unless the benefit outweighs the risk
- Taking other immune-modulating drugs — interactions are not fully studied
- On chemotherapy — needs assessment by the cancer care team
In sport
- The reference describes thymosin alpha-1 as not prohibited, citing approvals in Italy and China. It is distinct from thymosin beta-4.

How to mix and store it
How many units do I draw?
How to mix5 steps
Wipe both tops
Wash your hands, then swab both rubber vial tops with alcohol. Let them dry.
Draw the water
Use a new sterile syringe to draw the water volume selected in the calculator.
Run it down the wall
Introduce the water slowly down the inside glass wall, rather than directly onto the powder.
Swirl, don’t shake
Gently swirl or roll the vial. Allow time for the powder to dissolve.
Label the vial
Write the preparation date and the amount and final volume on the vial label.
Injecting under the skinWhere, rotating sites, which syringe
Where
Subcutaneous injections go into the fatty layer beneath the skin. Common sites include the abdomen, outer thigh and upper arm. Keep at least 5 cm from the navel and avoid bruised, irritated or damaged skin.
Rotate sites
Change the spot each time. Clean the skin and let it dry.
Single-use equipment
Use a new sterile needle and syringe each time. Place used needles in a sharps container.
Storage
Storage
Refrigerated. Reported period: up to 7 days.
What the research says
Cell and mouse research
Cell and mouse experiments measured how immune cells develop and send signals.
Human cell cultures
Researchers tested a natural 28-amino-acid thymosin-alpha-1 peptide in immune cells grown from human blood cells.
How long it stays in your body
Half-life is the time it takes for the amount in the body to fall by half. It does not tell you how long effects last.

Questions
What does 12.5mg mean?
It describes an amount of material in the unit stated on the label. It does not describe liquid volume, a dose, or how to prepare the product.
Read more about amountsDoes purity mean it is sterile?
No. Purity and sterility require different tests. An endotoxin result also does not establish sterility.
About testingCan I calculate concentration?
You need a mass in mg and either a final volume or a target concentration. IU and blends require separate, verified information.
